Our dog adoption process is designed to be smooth and easy, from filling out an application to welcoming your new family member into your home!
Because each dog and each family are unique - our process is unique for each family.
The first step to adopt any NAWS pup is to submit an adoption application below! A counselor will get back to you as soon as they can (please keep in mind they are volunteers) and set up a time for you to come into the shelter and meet with the pup.
After the initial meeting - the counselor will determine the next steps needed to move forward.
As a general rule- adoption fees range from $400-$500 depending on the age, bree, among other criteria.

Dog Adoption Process
If you are interested in meeting some of our Cats at the NAWS Campus in Mokena, viewing hours are:
Weekdays 9am-7pm or by Appointment
Saturdays 8am-4pm
Sundays 11am-3pm
You're always welcome to stop in during our open hours to view our adoptable cats!
Please keep in mind- if you want a personalized one on one experience withour adoption counselors and cats, we kindly ask that you start by filling out an adoption application below. This helps us ensure we have the time and information needed to speak with you and make the best possible match!
We have a private room called the Cat Cave so approved adopters can meet with a cat one on one- but you will need an approved application in order to use the room. There is also a possibility that if you walk in, the room will be in use by someone with an appointment.
Please be aware that an application submitted alone is not an approved application- your application is not approved until you receive a verbal confirmation via email, on the phone, or in person.
Cat Adoption Fees range from $85-$165.
Please keep in mind that all of our young Kittens are in foster homes, and will require an appointment to visit. If you are interested in a particular kitten, please email us at catadoptions@nawsus.org
Please Note! All adopted cats must go home in a carrier, no exceptions. If you do not have a travel carrier you may purchase one at NAWS for $8.
